The time has come for Notre Dame to join the Big Ten and step in line with the rest of college football. Stop pretending there is something special about remaining a college football Independent. The Notre Dame NBC TV deal pales in comparison to what other Big Ten football schools are getting. And the fact that both Notre Dame and Big Ten football have contracts with NBC should make the Irish re-evaluate the college football broadcast landscape.

Plus, as Locked on Big 10 has long asserted, the fact that every Power school, including Notre Dame, is going to pony up an extra $20 million dollars a year for revenue sharing, seeking higher revenues from a home conference is a must! Notre Dame football finds itself in a similar situation as Florida State and Clemson who are earning far less than their market value on their broadcast deals. At least the Fighting Irish don’t have a $130 million dollar conference exit fee!
In the end, the talk about Notre Dame joining the Big 10 or any other conference is growing louder out of financial necessity.
