Many Stunned by Bill O’Brien Hire as New Ohio State O.C.

Ohio State Buckeyes football coach Ryan Day hired Bill O’Brien as his new Offensive Coordinator for the upcoming 2024 football season. Certainly O’Brien has a long resume with head coaching experience at Penn State and the with the Houston Texans. He has also been an assistant under Bill Belichick with the New England Patriots and under Nick Saban at Alabama. He has also worked with some great quarterbacks like Tom Brady, DeShaun Watson, and Tua Tagovailoa. The resume is solid. Almost too solid. Given Ryan Day’s growing hotseat in Columbus, does he want a coach that could easily replace him on his staff? Or will Day benefit by having a qualified offensive coordinator that could take the heat off of himself if the team falls short of expectations?

And what about assistant coach Brian Hartline? He was promoted to co-offensive coordinator last year?

Also, you won’t believe which assistant coach Day let go in order to make room for Bill O’Brien on the staff!

There’s also another explanation for the O’Brien hire: Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes are all in on returning to the top of the Big 10.
We would love your opinion on the matter!
