Big Ten CFP Rankings: SEC Bias Leaves Ohio State Out?

The College Football Playoff committee released its initial rankings, which will eventually help determine the 12-team playoff field. If the season ended today, only two Big Ten teams would make the field: No. 4 Indiana and undefeated No. 8 UCLA. No. 12 Ohio State would be out. Iowa, USC and Oregon also cracked the top 25. The episode argues SEC bias is on display, with five of the top 10 and seven of the top 14 teams from the SEC.

Why is it that when SEC teams play each other, the loser is rarely penalized, but when Big Ten teams knock each other off, the loser disappears from the rankings? Is the committee favoring the SEC?
