USC football coach Lincoln Riley went from the hot seat to the middle of the College Football Playoff mix with the Trojans’ impressive win vs. Ohio State. And that was just the tip of the iceberg on a crazy Big Ten football weekend.
How about Minnesota and Indiana trading 60-yard field goals in the final 19 seconds of regulation, only to see Curt Cignetti’s Hoosiers win in overtime? The Iowa Hawkeyes brought the Wisconsin Badgers down to earth with a 30-0 shutout. Illinois beat Maryland at the horn with a field goal and got its starting quarterback back as well! Michigan earned a too-close-for-comfort win at Rutgers. The Oregon Ducks flew to victory over Northwestern behind their new offensive coordinator. And UCLA is 8-0 and ranked in the Top 5!
Elsewhere, Matt Campbell earned his first Big Ten win as Penn State beat Purdue, and Nebraska blew another fourth-quarter lead as Washington scored two touchdowns late in the fourth quarter for the win.
