Big Ten and SEC Super Conference Merger Sooner than Later?

BIG TEN AND SEC SUPER CONFERENCE
The Big Ten and SEC conferences are talking again. They are scheduled to meet in Nashville next week. Can you say Super Conference? You may recall the Big Ten and SEC formed an advisory group in February made up of Athletic Directors, Chancellors and Presidents.

The group discusses ideas about a Big Ten – SEC scheduling partnership, college football playoff formats and automatic bids to the playoffs. Big Ten Commissioner Tony Petitti and SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey will be there next week so there may be some news to come out of this meeting.

We believe Petitti and Sankey are the two most powerful men in college football. And we will give you our thoughts on this upcoming meeting about a Big Ten and SEC Super Conference.

Speaking of the Big Ten, and we always do, following the Minnesota Golden Gophers controversial onside kick at Michigan where the Gophers appeared to pounce on the kick only to have the play negated for drawing an offsides penalty, the Conference is making changes regarding the location of officials for kicks. These changes should allow officials a better view for kickoffs. The Big Ten did not announce an officiating mistake was made in that game, however.

We also take a look at the Big Ten Players of the Week and celebrate their accomplishments and we list our weekly Big Ten Football Power Rankings. Where does your team rank? It is all here on Locked on Big 10 with Craig Shemon!
