Penn State football coach James Franklin won a lot of games in his first 10 years in Happy Valley. As we head into the 2024 season his expectation is to make the expanded college football playoffs.
Under Franklin the Nittany Lions seem to beat everybody on their schedule but Michigan and Ohio State and finish the regular season 10-2. Most schools would take 10-2 records, but that outcome always means Penn State had a great year but then watches Michigan or Ohio State grab the Big Ten title and continue to the college football playoffs while the Nittany Lions go play in a respectable bowl game and call it a day until next season.
