To the tune of $20 million dollars of Name, Image and Likeness (NIL), the 2024 Ohio State football roster is the best team money can buy heading into the 2024 college football season.
In the past, such a statement would connote an unethical team that cheated college football by acquiring better players by paying them under the table in order to gain an unfair advantage over its opponents.
Now financial payments are above the table and perfectly normal and legal in today’s college football landscape. In fact, those that don’t jump head first into NIL will be obsolete, left behind and people will get fired.

Perhaps Ryan Day and the Ohio State football program have elevated their NIL game better than anybody else in college football. Some say their players will make $20 million dollars this year alone. To Ohio State this is just the cost of doing business. This is the cost to beat Michigan, win the Big Ten, win college football playoff games and bring home a college football national championship.
But if Ryan Day does anything other than win a college football national championship, after spending $20 million dollars of donor money, then he may be looking for another coaching job elsewhere.
