Michigan Wolverines vs Nebraska Huskers; Mel Tucker Fired

Michigan Wolverines vs Nebraska Huskers: Jim Harbaugh and his Michigan Wolverines hit the road for the first time this season to face Matt Rhule and his Nebraska Cornhuskers Saturday. Despite Harbaugh’s 3 game suspension to begin the season, the Wolverines march into Memorial Stadium with a 4-0 record. Michigan Wolverines quarterback JJ McCarthy leads the country by completing 80 percent of his passes. And the Wolverines running attack is led by Blake Corum who spurned a chance to play in the National Football League in order to play one more season for the Maize and Blue. Plus, Michigan’s scoring defense is number one in the country, allowing less than 6 points per game.

Meanwhile, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are finding their way after a slow start. The Huskers starting quarterback Jeff Sims went down with a high ankle sprain in week two vs Deion Sanders and his Colorado Buffaloes. While in the line up, Sims coughed up 6 turnovers in two games. Since his injury, Huskers quarterback Heinrich Haarberg has stepped up and won two games.

Tuesday practices in Lincoln are called Bloody Tuesday. They set the tone for the weekend. Michigan Wolverines vs Nebraska Huskers should be a physical battle. Who do you like?

Meanwhile, the Lou Holtz vs Ryan Day battle of words continues. Before last week’s Ohio State Buckeyes vs Notre Dame Fighting Irish game, Holtz said the Buckeyes are not tough. He said they wilt when they play the likes of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs and Michigan Wolverines.

Immediately, after the Buckeyes huge nationally televised win over the Fighting Irish, Day emphatically called out Holtz for his comments in his post game interview. The 86 year old Holtz has since doubled down on his remarks. Who would win in a fight?

It’s just a formality, but Michigan State University officially fired football coach Mel Tucker for cause. At stake is the 79 million dollars remaining on his contract.

We also look at some interesting stats that involved Big 10 teams and their dominance over college football. Plus, things are so good with the Penn State Nittany Lions that coach James Franklin used his weekly press conference to talk about his preferences for coffee. Sweet or black? Surely, he is in a good mood these days.

Finally, we look ahead to the weekend with the Big 10 Network’s Big 10 Classics and game schedule.
