Who will the Spartans next hire now that Michigan State University officially fired coach Mel Tucker for alleged misbehavior? We’ve put together a comprehensive list for consideration. Some are head coaches at other programs that would view the Michigan State job as a step up from their current place of employment. Others are up and coming coordinators ready for a big promotion.
The Michigan State football job is a great job. It has a loyal fan base and great facilities. But it is tough to win there and it’s about to get tougher once the USC Trojans, Oregon Ducks and Washington Huskies join the Ohio State Buckeyes, Michigan Wolverines and Penn State Nittany Lions in the Big 10!
Also, the job pays well. Or, at least it did. After all, Mel Tucker had a 10 year 95 million dollar contract. Because of that, and since the university doled out a half billion dollars from the Larry Nassar case, don’t be so sure they will give out huge money for a big name replacement. That’s why we think Michigan State Spartans next hire will be a young, up and coming new football coach. What do you think?
Also, it’s hard to believe, but Week 5 is upon us and there are some interesting conference matchups to consider. For example, the Michigan Wolverines finally hit the road to play the Nebraska Cornhuskers. And the Purdue Boilermakers Ryan Walters faces the Illinois Fighting Illini, a team he coordinated the defense for last season. And, the Maryland Terps have a shot at a 5-0 start as they host the Indiana Hoosiers.
