LIVE: The Iowa Hawkeyes Are 6-1; Big 3 Avoid Traps

The Iowa Hawkeyes are 6-1 and did the most Iowa Hawkeyes thing ever. They scored a touchdown, two field goals and a safety to beat the Wisconsin Badgers 12-6 and get a leg up on the Big 10 West standings. Add Tory Taylor and his booming field flipping punts, plus a bone-crushing Hawkeyes defense and the Hawkeyes have the inside track to represent the West in the Big 10 championship in December.

This win is so big that complaints about Kirk Ferentz and his offensive coordinator son Brian Ferentz may quiet down for a day or two. Moving forward, the Hawkeyes lost another tight end in Erick All to injury. That’s two starting tight ends and a starting quarterback that are out for Iowa. The Iowa Hawkeyes are 6-1 this week but their schedule is favorable for the rest of the season.

Plus, the Big 3, the Michigan Wolverines, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Penn State Nittany Lions all avoided trap games so the standings are taking shape.

And we will have the first look ahead to a huge week eight next Saturday around the Big 10. Check it all out for our Saturday night LIVE version on Locked on Big 10 with Craig Shemon.
